Fishing Report/Photos

February 9th, 2008

Well it's a new year and I haven't been able to do much fishing lately. The snow and ice is keeping me from getting me to the lakes. Hopefully I can get out there real soon!

Eagle Lake - Today I took my long time friend Carlos with me. We got on the water at 7:15. Headed to Troxel point and got the lines in the water about 7:30. Used gold Cripplure with red tape, a brown grub w/a wigglefin, and a brown grub on an Uncle Larry's black perch spinner all with Pro-Cure Nightcrawler Super Gel. 7:45 Fish on! Nice 3lb 4oz. 8:00 Fish on! Nice 3lb 12oz, then nothing for the next hour. We picked up and moved to the youth camp. Trolled for half an hour then started catching fish again. All fish were caught on brass red Cripplure behind a Slingblade with pink tape. 15' deep on the downrigger, caught a total of six fish, released two. Off the lake by 12 noon.

Frenchmen's - Fishing is still very good all over the lake. I have had multiple limits every time we go out for the last three months. They are hitting on just about everything. My best setups are Cripplure and Hum-dingers behind Slingblades with Pro-Cure Nightcrawler Super Gel, or Uncle Larry's spinners with a 2" brown grub. Trolled 1.3-1.5 mph, 10-14 ft deep.

Eagle Lake - We have been fishing the north basin at Troxel point in 9' of water with the downriggers at 6-7' deep using brown and orange grubs, black grubs, and brown trolling flies. Fish are 3-5 lbs, 19-22" long and very hard fighting. Takes 10-15 minutes to land these fish, they take 5-6 runs before giving up.
Have fun and good luck!

Book a trip now, this action won't last too long!

Some nice fish from Eagle Lake

Frenchman's- I have been fishing the north end of the lake from the Narrows to Snallygaster Bay and Turkey point. The fishing has been good to excellent. Also fish from the dam to the point on the East Shore. I have had good results with chrome slingblades and a silver-green-orange humdinger with Pro-Cure nightcrawler gel and Uncle Larry's fire tiger pro Snell spinners with a threaded baby night crawler. The downriggers are ten feet deep, 150-200' back, 1.2-1.5 mph. We've had limits every trip. Fish are between 15-18" and hard fighting. Good luck and book a trip now. This action won't last too long!

Stampede - Fished with client Carlos Cordova. Got on the water 6am, started fishing north of boat launch when we caught a nice 14.5" Kokanee before I could get the third rod in the water. We got the rods back in the water and hooked up again. Fished from 6am to 10am. The fish were 13.5" - 15.5" with one at 12". We were using pink bugs, pink RGT's behind watermelon Dodgers and double bladed spinners with red beads and white spinners and red beads with red spinners. Corn was dyed with Pro-Cure corn dye with Preditator and Kokanee Special scent.

Water temp was 70 degrees, fished 50-70 feet deep. If you are catching small fish, go deeper, even if you aren't marking them, they are there. Speed was at 1.2 - 1.6. Here's our catch.

June 9, 2007

Stampede - Lots of Kokanee action from Sage Hen to the island. Fish are 13" - 16" with no Copepods on them. I used pink and white bugs, spinners, etc. Down in the 40' to 65' range. EZ limits.

June 2, 2007

Donner Lake - The kokanee are biting in good numbers. Most are small, 8" - 12" but there are some bigger fish from 14" - 16" in there, you just have to weed through them. Limits are possible. Fish 55 to 70 feet. I used pink and green bugs. The Mack bite is slow but may get better as the moon changes.

Davis Lake is putting out some nice fish right now in the 2-4 lb. range. Use flashers with baby night crawlers, Uncle Larry's spinners in fire tiger patterns with baby night crawlers and Cripplures needlefish. The fish are 10 - 15 feet below the surface.

Stampede is picking up also, Kokes are 20 - 30 feet down. Spinners, bugs, hoochies in pinks, chartreuse and purple, with your favorite dodger. They like shoepeg corn scented with Pro Cure Kokanee Special and Preditor.

Went to Davis Lake this weekend between storms. Got on the water about 7:00 am, started out using fire tiger cripplure and red, white & blue humdinger. Had the first fish in the boat before I could get my second pole in the water. Had my next fish within 15 minutes. Water temp was 38 degrees, weather very windy and cold, 32 degrees. Fished until 10:00 am, got a total of four trout to 2 1/2 to 3 lbs., all the fish looked rough. They're just finishing up spawning. Bite is starting to pickup, also caught fish on the frog cripplure. Wind came up and had to get off the lake, too hard to control the boat!

Frenchman's Reservoir - Another beautiful day on the water! Launched around 9:30 and fished until 12:30. Had two limits in the boat by 11:30. Fish ranged from 13" to 16". Trolled 1.3 - 1.6 mph, fish were hitting on various lures. Chrome & silver cripplures, firetiger cripplure, firetiger and black perch Uncle Larry spinners tipped with baby nightcrawler. Used Pro-cure super gel nightcrawler scent on all. Started out toplining with two poles and one on the downrigger at ten feet. Downrigger was getting all the hits so we switched all three to the downriggers to between 10 and 15 feet. Had several double hookups. Great day on the lake with wife and the dogs!

March 15, 2007

Topaz Lake - Finally warmed up enough to go fishing, just me and the dog! Got on the water about 9:30, fished until 1:30, caught a total of 20 fish on two poles. Fish ranged from 15 - 18". Largest fish was 3 1/2 lb., 19 1/2" hen full of eggs. Fish were hitting on blue & chrome humdingers and cripplures, no dodgers. Also hit on black & gold F5 rapalas, firetiger and black perch Uncle Larry spinners tipped with baby nightcrawler. Used Pro-cure super gel nightcrawler scent on all. Trolled between 1.4 and 1.7 mph. Started out toplining, fishing slowed about 11:30 so went to the downriggers 10-12' deep, started catching fish again. What a great day for fishing!

January 27, 2007

Welcome to our new web site! We finally have the time to build a new web site because all the lakes are frozen!! We went fishing at Topaz on New Year's day and had a great time! Caught a total of 16 rainbows on a variety of lures, mainly Cripplures, Rapalas in silver/black, and gold/orange. The fish were caught in the top 15 feet of water. They ranged from 1 to 2 1/2 pounds. The lake was packed with fishermen on opening day! Topaz Landing was holding a fishing derby, the largest fish weighed in was a 7 lbs 14 oz. rainbow.  A 5 lb 14 oz, and a 4 lbs 12 oz were also caught trolling. The largest reported fish caught from the bank was a 5 lbs 11 oz. rainbow. We will be booking trips for Topaz as soon as the weather warms enough to melt the thin layer of ice on the lake. Keep checking back! We will be updating the fishing reports when we can get out on the lakes!
